TEC is the abbreviation for Telecommunication Engineering Center. TEC of is the responsible Indian authority when it comes to certification for Telecommunications products. From 1991 to 2019, TEC certification could be achieved as a voluntary product registration. In 2019 the authority then published announcement No. 10-1/2017-IT/TEC/ER, declaring that 2019 the MTCTE regulations will be rolled out step by step, similar to what happened with the AIS/TAC certification standards. MTCTE stands for Mandatory Testing Certification of Telecommunication Equipment.
